At the recent Special General Meeting, the Executive and Provincial Representatives of SWPSA came together to make a decisive move toward the future of school water polo in South Africa. In a unanimous vote, the SWPSA Constitution was officially updated — a milestone that empowers the organisation to continue charting its own course, to make decisions in the best interest of its school athletes, and to align with affiliations that reflect its values and long-term vision.
This update is more than a policy change. It marks a defining moment — a statement of intent, a shift in mindset, and the laying of a strong foundation for sustainable growth, competitive excellence, and integrity. Crucially, it also reinforces SWPSA’s unwavering commitment to transformation and development, ensuring that opportunities are broadened and access to the sport is expanded across all communities.
To complement this bold new direction, SWPSA proudly unveiled its new logo, inspired by the vibrant colours of the South African flag. The refreshed identity symbolises unity, pride, and possibility — a celebration of the diversity and strength of South African school water polo. With green, gold, red, blue, black and white woven into the visual fabric of the brand, it reflects a renewed spirit of inclusivity, energy, and national pride.
“This evolution gives us the clarity to lead with purpose,” said a spokesperson for SWPSA. “It allows us to be more agile, to grow in the right direction, and to focus on what truly matters — our athletes and their journey.”
Credit is due to Richard Irvine and his leadership team, whose guidance and commitment were instrumental in driving this transformation.
